Reference range
Beta globulin in urine is normally present in trace amounts. Interpretation is based on the urine protein electrophoresis pattern; beta globulin fraction typically comprises <10% of total urinary protein in healthy individuals. Results should be interpreted alongside total urine protein, urine protein/creatinine ratio, and the complete electrophoretic pattern. A 24-hour collection quantification is recommended for accurate assessment of beta globulin excretion.N/A
No fasting required. Patient should maintain normal hydration prior to collection. First morning void is preferred for random urine samples, though 24-hour collections may be requested for quantification. Patients should avoid strenuous exercise for at least 24 hours prior to collection as exercise can transiently increase urinary protein excretion. Inform the laboratory of any current medications including diuretics, ACE inhibitors, NSAIDs, and recent contrast administration.
