How is the test performed?

You will lie on a movable table inside an MRI scanner and may need to remain still while several sets of images are taken. For the MRA portion, contrast material is given through a vein in your arm, and the scanner rapidly captures images of the blood vessels.

How do I prepare for the test?

Follow the facility's instructions about medications, eating, and drinking; fasting is not usually required unless specifically requested. Tell the imaging team if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have kidney disease, or have had a reaction to contrast material, and disclose any medically implanted devices or metal in your body.
