What is this test?
This is a legacy test that looked for IgG antibodies directed against endive, also known as chicory, using a radioallergosorbent test method. “Deprecated” means the test is no longer routinely available or recommended for current clinical use.
Why might I need this test?
You may see this test in older medical records, or a clinician may review a historical result as part of an allergy evaluation. It is generally not ordered today because food-specific IgG testing has limited value for diagnosing true food allergy.
How is the test performed?
The original test used serum obtained from a blood sample and reported a qualitative result, such as detected or not detected. The laboratory method and reporting terminology may differ from current allergy testing.
How do I prepare for the test?
No special preparation is generally required for the blood draw. Because this test is deprecated, contact the laboratory or ordering clinician before repeating it and do not change your diet or medications solely because of an old result.
Reference range
Adult: 10-40 U/LN/A
