Food Allergen Mix (FX73) IgE, Serum — Radioallergosorbent Test
Measures IgE antibodies to a panel of foods in the FX73 panel to help evaluate possible food allergies.
["Elevated food-specific IgE may support a suspected food allergy, but results must be interpreted alongside symptoms and other allergy testing."]

What is this test?
This blood test measures allergen-specific IgE antibodies against several foods included in the FX73 allergen panel. IgE is an immune-system protein that can react with food allergens.
Why might I need this test?
This test may be used to help evaluate suspected food allergies, especially when symptoms occur after eating particular foods. It may also be useful for monitoring an established food allergy.
How is the test performed?
A blood sample is drawn and tested in the laboratory for IgE antibodies to the foods in the panel. The laboratory may use a radioallergosorbent method or another validated immunoassay.
How do I prepare for the test?
No special preparation is usually required. Tell your clinician about food allergies, recent symptoms, current medicines, and any changes in your diet before the test.
Reference range
Adult: 10-40 U/LN/A
No special preparation required. Avoid fatty meals before the test if possible.
Clinical interpretation
How abnormal results are interpreted and what conditions they suggest.
Detectable food-specific IgE indicates sensitization to one or more foods in the panel, but it does not by itself confirm a clinical allergy. The significance depends on the specific food, the antibody level, your symptoms, and the results of other allergy tests.
Short name
Food Allergen Mix IgE
