Follicle-Stimulating Hormone (FSH) and Creatinine, 24-Hour Urine
Measures follicle-stimulating hormone and creatinine in a 24-hour urine collection. Creatinine can help evaluate daily excretion and whether the collection appears complete.

What is this test?
This test measures follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and creatinine in urine collected for 24 hours. FSH is a hormone involved in reproductive function, while creatinine is a waste product produced by muscle and filtered by the kidneys.
Why might I need this test?
A 24-hour urine collection can show how much of a substance is excreted over a full day. The clinician may use FSH to evaluate hormonal activity and creatinine to help assess kidney excretion, muscle contribution, hydration, and collection completeness.
How is the test performed?
All urine produced during a complete 24-hour period is collected in a labeled container and sent to the laboratory for measurement. The collection should include urine from the start of one day through the end of the next day.
How do I prepare for the test?
Follow the laboratory's 24-hour collection instructions, including the exact start and stop times. Usually, the first morning urine is discarded and all later urine is collected, with the final specimen added at the end of the collection period.
