What is this test?
Left ventricular end-diastolic frame time is a timing measurement obtained from moving cardiac MRI images. It relates to the images captured when the left ventricle is filled and may be used with other findings to evaluate heart function.
Why might I need this test?
This measurement may be included in a cardiac MRI used to evaluate the structure and function of the heart. It can support assessment of left ventricular filling, contraction, and the calculation of other heart-function measurements.
How is the test performed?
You lie on a table inside an MRI scanner while the scanner takes a series of moving images of your heart. The images are then analyzed to measure the timing and function of the left ventricle. The test is generally painless, although the scanner can be noisy and somewhat confining.
How do I prepare for the test?
Follow the imaging center's instructions about eating, drinking, and medications. Tell the care team if you have a pacemaker or other implanted device, kidney disease, or a possibility of pregnancy, because contrast material may be needed or may require special precautions.
