Maximum Systolic Blood Pressure (Measured via Doppler Cuff)
This test measures your blood pressure during a systolic phase using a Doppler ultrasound device, which detects blood flow through your arteries when a blood pressure cuff is inflated. It helps assess how well your heart pumps blood and maintains circulation.

How This Test Works
A blood pressure cuff is placed around your arm and inflated to restrict blood flow. A Doppler probe sends sound waves through your artery, detecting the return of blood flow as the cuff is slowly deflated. The highest pressure at which blood flow is reliably detected represents your maximum systolic pressure.
When You Might Need This Test
Doctors may order this test if you have suspected arterial blockages, severe hypertension, or conditions affecting blood flow—such as peripheral artery disease or aortic stenosis. It’s also used in specialized cardiac evaluations.
Preparation and Procedure
No special preparation is needed. You’ll lie down or sit comfortably while the technician monitors your blood flow. The procedure takes about 5–10 minutes and is generally painless.
What to Expect After the Test
You can resume normal activities immediately. If the test shows abnormal readings, your doctor may recommend further evaluation, such as additional imaging or lifestyle adjustments.
