Right Ventricular End-Diastolic Frame Time, Magnetic Resonance Imaging
An MRI-based timing measurement of the right ventricle at the end of diastole, interpreted with other heart function findings.
["This cardiac MRI measurement helps assess right-ventricular function but must be interpreted with the rest of the MRI report."]

What is this test?
This is a timing measurement associated with the right ventricle at the end of diastole, when the heart is relaxed and filling. It is obtained as part of magnetic resonance imaging of the heart and is one of several measurements used to evaluate heart structure and function.
Why might I need this test?
Cardiac MRI may be ordered to evaluate right-ventricular size, contraction, or filling, including when an initial echocardiogram or other imaging test is inconclusive. It may also help assess heart conditions involving the right side of the heart.
How is the test performed?
You lie on a table inside an MRI scanner while the machine creates detailed images as your heart beats. Software identifies the right-ventricular end-diastolic frame and calculates or records the corresponding timing measurement.
How do I prepare for the test?
Follow the imaging center's instructions and tell the staff about metal implants, claustrophobia, kidney disease, pregnancy, or prior contrast reactions. You may be asked to avoid caffeine or other stimulants if the study is evaluating blood flow, and fasting is not usually required unless specifically requested.
