Temporary relief of symptoms associated with upper respiratory infections including cough, nasal congestion, sinus congestion, headache, body aches, sore throat, and fever. Guaifenesin component specifically helps relieve chest congestion by loosening mucus.
Acetaminophen inhibits cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes in the brain to reduce pain and fever. Codeine binds to opioid receptors in the brain to suppress cough reflex and provide analgesia. Guaifenesin acts as an expectorant by increasing respiratory tract secretions and reducing mucus viscosity. Phenylpropanolamine is an alpha-adrenergic agonist that causes vasoconstriction of nasal mucosa blood vessels, reducing swelling and congestion.
Contains an opioid (codeine) with risk of dependence, drowsiness, and respiratory depression. Do not drive or operate machinery until you know how this medication affects you. Avoid alcohol as it may increase drowsiness and liver risk from acetaminophen. Phenylpropanolamine may increase blood pressure; use with caution if you have hypertension, thyroid disease, diabetes, or heart disease. Not recommended for children due to codeine-related respiratory risks. Do not exceed recommended dose to avoid acetaminophen-induced liver damage.
