Acoramidis
Acoramidis is a selective transthyretin stabilizer used in the treatment of transthyretin amyloidosis, a progressive disease where abnormal amyloid protein deposits accumulate in organs such as the heart and peripheral nervous system. By binding to thyroxine binding sites on transthyretin, the medication prevents the protein tetramer from dissociating into monomers, thereby blocking the initial step in amyloid fibril formation.
Acoramidis stabilizes the transthyretin protein to prevent amyloid formation in patients with transthyretin amyloidosis.

Treatment of transthyretin amyloidosis (ATTR), including hereditary transthyretin amyloid polyneuropathy (ATTRv-PN) and transthyretin amyloid cardiomyopathy (ATTR-CM), both wild-type and mutant forms.
Acoramidis is a selective TTR stabilizer that binds to thyroxine binding sites on transthyretin tetramers. This binding prevents dissociation into monomers, which is the rate-limiting step in amyloidogenesis, thereby reducing amyloid fibril formation.
Acoramidis is taken orally. Common side effects may include gastrointestinal symptoms. Patients should be monitored for liver function and cardiac status. The medication should be used as prescribed by a specialist experienced in treating amyloidosis.
