Treatment of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women and men, particularly when vitamin D supplementation is also needed. Helps reduce the risk of fractures including hip, spine, and wrist fractures.
Alendronate inhibits osteoclast-mediated bone resorption, slowing bone loss while increasing bone density. Cholecalciferol (vitamin D3) improves intestinal calcium absorption and supports normal bone mineralization, complementing the bone-preserving effects of alendronate.
Must be taken first thing in the morning with a full glass of plain water on an empty stomach. Remain upright (sitting or standing) for at least 30-60 minutes after taking to prevent esophageal irritation. Do not lie down, eat, or drink anything except plain water during this time. Adequate calcium and vitamin D intake is essential for effectiveness.
