Amlodipine/Telmisartan is a combination antihypertensive medication that lowers blood pressure through two complementary mechanisms. It is used to treat essential hypertension in patients who require multi-drug therapy to achieve adequate blood pressure control. The combination allows for better efficacy than either component alone while potentially reducing side effects through lower individual doses.

Treatment of essential hypertension in adults who are not adequately controlled on either amlodipine or telmisartan alone, or as initial therapy for patients requiring multi-drug treatment to reach blood pressure goals.

Amlodipine blocks L-type calcium channels in vascular smooth muscle, causing relaxation and vasodilation, while telmisartan blocks angiotensin II type 1 receptors, preventing vasoconstriction and reducing aldosterone secretion. Together they provide complementary blood pressure reduction with improved tolerability.

Avoid use during pregnancy (especially second and third trimesters) due to fetal harm risk. May cause hypotension, hyperkalemia, or renal impairment, particularly in patients with volume depletion or renal artery stenosis. Monitor for signs of angioedema. Avoid concomitant use with aliskiren in diabetic patients.
