Amlodipine / Valsartan
Amlodipine/Valsartan is a combination medication used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). It combines two different blood pressure-lowering agents: amlodipine, a calcium channel blocker that relaxes blood vessels, and valsartan, an angiotensin receptor blocker that prevents blood vessel narrowing. This combination is typically prescribed when single-agent therapy is insufficient.
A dual-action blood pressure medication combining a calcium channel blocker and angiotensin receptor blocker for hypertension management.

Treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure) in patients who require combination therapy to achieve adequate blood pressure control.
Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker that relaxes and widens blood vessels by preventing calcium from entering muscle cells. Valsartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that prevents blood vessels from narrowing by blocking the action of angiotensin II, a hormone that causes vasoconstriction. Together, they lower blood pressure through complementary mechanisms.
Contraindicated in pregnancy (especially 2nd and 3rd trimesters) due to risk of fetal harm. May cause dizziness, swelling (edema), or low blood pressure. Patients with heart conditions, liver impairment, or a history of angioedema should use with caution. Avoid potassium supplements and salt substitutes containing potassium unless directed, as valsartan can increase potassium levels.
