Treatment of acute and chronic respiratory tract infections where bacterial infection coincides with excessive viscous mucus, such as bronchitis, sinusitis, and otitis media with mucus accumulation.

Amoxicillin kills susceptible bacteria by inhibiting cell wall synthesis, while carbocysteine breaks down disulfide bonds in mucus proteins, reducing viscosity and facilitating clearance of respiratory secretions.

Should be used only when bacterial infection is confirmed or strongly suspected. Full course must be completed even if symptoms improve. Contraindicated in patients with penicillin allergy. May interact with other antibiotics and certain diagnostic tests. Common side effects include gastrointestinal disturbances and allergic reactions.
