Published: July 27, 2026Updated: August 27, 2026

Amoxicillin/Floxacillin is a combination antibiotic used to treat various bacterial infections. The combination pairs amoxicillin's broad-spectrum coverage with floxacillin's resistance to beta-lactamase enzymes, making it particularly effective against staphylococcal infections and other gram-positive bacteria. This medication is commonly prescribed for respiratory, skin, and soft tissue infections where coverage against resistant bacteria is needed.

Treatment of respiratory tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and other bacterial infections caused by susceptible organisms including penicillinase-producing Staphylococcus aureus and other gram-positive bacteria.

Both amoxicillin and floxacillin are beta-lactam antibiotics that inhibit bacterial cell wall synthesis. Floxacillin is resistant to beta-lactamase enzymes, providing protection against resistant bacteria and extending the spectrum of activity.

Should be taken on an empty stomach (1 hour before or 2 hours after meals). Patients with penicillin allergy should not use this medication. Common side effects include gastrointestinal disturbances, and prolonged use may result in fungal or bacterial superinfection. Complete the full course as prescribed.
