Relief of pain and discomfort associated with acute otitis media, otitis externa, barotrauma (ear pain from pressure changes during flying or diving), and post-procedural ear pain. Often used before examination of the ear canal or eardrum to reduce discomfort.
Benzocaine provides rapid-onset local anesthesia by blocking nerve conduction and sodium channels in the affected ear tissues. Antipyrine acts as an analgesic and may have mild anti-inflammatory properties. Together, they provide prompt symptomatic relief of ear pain when applied topically to the ear canal.
For topical otic use only. Should not be used if the eardrum is perforated or if there is discharge from the ear. Avoid contamination of the dropper tip. Generally intended for short-term relief (a few days). Rare risk of methemoglobinemia with benzocaine, particularly in children. Consult a healthcare provider for proper diagnosis before use, especially in children.
