Treatment and prevention of iron deficiency anemia; iron deficiency due to poor dietary intake, pregnancy, menstrual blood loss, or malabsorption conditions; general iron supplementation when increased iron needs exist.
Polysaccharide iron complex provides a bioavailable form of iron for hemoglobin synthesis and erythrocyte production. Ascorbic acid enhances iron absorption by reducing ferric iron (Fe3+) to the more readily absorbed ferrous form (Fe2+) in the intestinal lumen.
Take on an empty stomach when possible for optimal absorption; space doses 2-4 hours apart from antacids, calcium supplements, or tetracycline antibiotics. May cause constipation, nausea, or dark stools. Keep out of reach of children—accidental iron overdose can be serious and requires immediate medical attention. Do not exceed recommended dose.
