Prevention of recurrent stroke and transient ischemic attacks (TIA) in patients with a history of these conditions. It is typically used for secondary prevention rather than initial treatment of acute events.

Aspirin inhibits cyclooxygenase enzymes in platelets, reducing the production of thromboxane A2 and thereby decreasing platelet aggregation. Dipyridamole inhibits phosphodiesterase and adenosine reuptake, increasing cyclic AMP levels in platelets and blood vessels, which further reduces platelet clumping and promotes vasodilation.

Common side effects may include headache, dizziness, and gastrointestinal discomfort. Patients should be monitored for bleeding risks, particularly gastrointestinal bleeding. The medication should not be used in patients with aspirin allergy or active peptic ulcer disease. Capsules are usually taken twice daily.
