Treatment of essential hypertension (high blood pressure) in patients who require multiple agents to achieve adequate blood pressure control.
Atenolol (beta-blocker) decreases heart rate and cardiac output, Chlorthalidone (diuretic) reduces blood volume by promoting fluid and salt excretion, and Hydralazine (vasodilator) relaxes smooth muscle in blood vessel walls to decrease peripheral resistance.
May cause dizziness or orthostatic hypotension, especially when starting therapy. Avoid alcohol as it may worsen side effects. Do not stop taking abruptly without medical supervision. Regular monitoring of blood pressure, electrolytes, and kidney function may be required. Contraindicated in certain heart conditions and pregnancy.
