Atrac-Tain is used to treat dry, scaly skin conditions including xerosis (dry skin), ichthyosis, psoriasis, eczema, and keratosis. It is also used to soften thickened skin, calluses, and rough patches on elbows, knees, and feet.
The active ingredient urea acts as a humectant, attracting and retaining moisture in the skin. It also has mild keratolytic properties, helping to break down and remove dead skin cells while softening and hydrating the stratum corneum (outer skin layer).
For external use only; avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes. May cause mild stinging or irritation, especially on broken or inflamed skin. Apply only to intact skin unless directed otherwise by a healthcare provider. Contains no steroids or antibiotics and is generally well-tolerated for long-term use.
