Avatrombopag
Avatrombopag is an oral thrombopoietin (TPO) receptor agonist used to treat low platelet counts (thrombocytopenia). It stimulates the bone marrow to produce more platelets by promoting the growth and maturation of megakaryocytes, the cells responsible for platelet creation. This medication is typically prescribed for patients with chronic liver disease or immune thrombocytopenia who require procedures or have significant bleeding risks.
Avatrombopag is an oral medication that increases platelet production by stimulating bone marrow cells, used to treat thrombocytopenia in patients with liver disease or immune conditions.

Mechanism of action
Pharmacodynamic properties
Treatment of thrombocytopenia (low platelet counts) in adults with chronic liver disease who are scheduled to undergo a procedure, and in adults with chronic immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) who have had an insufficient response to other treatments.
Avatrombopag binds to and activates the thrombopoietin (TPO) receptor on bone marrow progenitor cells, stimulating the proliferation and differentiation of megakaryocytes, which leads to increased platelet production.
Avatrombopag is taken orally once daily with food. It may increase the risk of blood clots, especially in patients with known thrombotic risk factors. Regular blood monitoring is required to assess platelet response. Do not use to normalize platelet counts; use only when clinically indicated.
