Treatment of thrombocytopenia in adult patients with chronic liver disease who are scheduled to undergo a medical procedure, and treatment of thrombocytopenia in adult patients with chronic immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) who have had an insufficient response to a previous therapy.

Avatrombopag Maleate is a thrombopoietin receptor agonist that binds to and activates the thrombopoietin receptor on megakaryocyte progenitor cells in the bone marrow, stimulating their proliferation and differentiation, which leads to increased platelet production.

May increase the risk of thrombotic events; should not be used to normalize platelet counts. Can cause hepatotoxicity; liver function monitoring recommended. Should be taken with food. Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to the drug.
