This medication is used to treat bacterial infections of the eye and surrounding tissues, including conjunctivitis, blepharitis, and keratitis. It may also be prescribed to prevent infection following eye surgery, corneal abrasions, or other eye injuries.
The three antibiotic components (bacitracin, neomycin, and polymyxin B) work through different mechanisms to inhibit bacterial growth: bacitracin interferes with cell wall synthesis, neomycin disrupts bacterial protein production, and polymyxin B damages bacterial cell membranes. Diperodon provides local anesthetic relief by temporarily blocking nerve signals in the applied area.
For ophthalmic use only; avoid touching the tip of the tube to prevent contamination. Use exactly as prescribed and complete the full course of treatment even if symptoms improve. Some individuals may be allergic to neomycin, and prolonged use may lead to fungal overgrowth or bacterial resistance. Consult a healthcare provider if symptoms worsen or do not improve within a few days.
