Balfaxar is indicated for the urgent reversal of vitamin K antagonist (warfarin) therapy in patients with serious or life-threatening bleeding, and for the reversal of warfarin in patients requiring emergency surgery or invasive procedures.

Balfaxar is a concentrate of human plasma-derived clotting factors II, VII, IX, and X (the vitamin K-dependent factors). It works by directly replenishing these coagulation factors in the blood, allowing the body's clotting cascade to function normally and stop bleeding more rapidly than waiting for vitamin K to take effect.

Balfaxar is administered intravenously by healthcare professionals in controlled settings. It carries risks of thromboembolic events and may cause allergic reactions. Monitoring of INR and vital signs is required during and after administration. It does not replace the need for vitamin K, which should be given concurrently for sustained reversal.
