Relief of dysuria (painful urination), urinary burning, urgency, and frequency associated with urinary tract infections, catheter use, or urinary tract procedures. It treats symptoms rather than the infection itself.

As a urinary tract analgesic, it exerts a localized analgesic effect on the urinary tract mucosa, providing relief from urinary pain and discomfort while the underlying infection is treated separately.

Typically used short-term for symptom relief (1-2 days). Commonly causes harmless orange/red discoloration of urine and bodily fluids. Does not treat the underlying infection—antibiotics are usually needed concurrently. Should not be used for more than 2 days without medical supervision. May interfere with urinalysis tests.
