Beleodaq is indicated for the treatment of relapsed or refractory peripheral T-cell lymphoma (PTCL) in adult patients who have received at least one prior systemic therapy. It is used when the cancer has returned or did not respond to previous treatments.

Beleodaq is a histone deacetylase (HDAC) inhibitor. It works by blocking HDAC enzymes, which leads to accumulation of acetylated histones and other proteins. This causes cell cycle arrest and apoptosis (programmed cell death), particularly in malignant T-cells.

Beleodaq carries risks including serious side effects such as tumor lysis syndrome, myelosuppression (low blood counts), hepatotoxicity, and infections. Common side effects include nausea, fatigue, fever, and anemia. Treatment should be supervised by oncologists experienced in chemotherapy, with regular monitoring of blood counts and liver function. It is administered as an IV infusion over 30-60 minutes on days 1-5 of a 21-day cycle.
