Treatment of urinary tract infections and symptomatic relief of dysuria (painful urination), bladder spasms, and urinary discomfort associated with UTIs.
Methenamine converts to formaldehyde in acidic urine, providing antibacterial effects against urinary pathogens. Belladonna extract contains anticholinergic alkaloids that help relax urinary tract smooth muscle. Salicylamide provides mild analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects for pain relief.
Methenamine requires acidic urine (pH < 6) to be effective; urine acidification may be recommended. Anticholinergic effects (dry mouth, constipation, blurred vision) may occur from belladonna. Use cautiously in patients with glaucoma, urinary retention, or benign prostatic hyperplasia. Avoid use in patients with severe renal impairment.
