Benzoyl Peroxide / Salicylic Acid
This combination topical medication pairs benzoyl peroxide with salicylic acid to treat acne. Benzoyl peroxide works as an antibacterial agent by releasing oxygen to kill acne-causing bacteria on the skin, while salicylic acid acts as a keratolytic to exfoliate dead skin cells and unclog pores. Together, these ingredients help reduce inflammatory lesions, blackheads, and whiteheads.
A dual-action topical acne treatment combining an antibacterial agent with a pore-clearing exfoliant.

Treats mild to moderate acne vulgaris, including inflammatory papules, pustules, and comedonal acne (blackheads and whiteheads). Often used when single-ingredient acne treatments have been insufficient.
Benzoyl peroxide penetrates pores and releases oxygen that kills Cutibacterium acnes bacteria while reducing inflammation. Salicylic acid (a beta-hydroxy acid) penetrates oil in pores to dissolve comedones and promote cell turnover, with additional anti-inflammatory properties.
May cause skin dryness, redness, peeling, or irritation—start with lower concentrations. Can bleach hair, towels, and clothing. Sun sensitivity may occur; sunscreen recommended. Avoid using with other harsh acne treatments (retinoids, abrasive scrubs) to prevent excessive irritation. Consult a provider before use if pregnant or breastfeeding.
