Primarily used to treat acne vulgaris (common acne), including inflammatory papules, pustules, and comedones. Often prescribed for moderate acne when over-the-counter treatments have not been effective enough.

Benzoyl peroxide penetrates pores and releases oxygen to reduce anaerobic acne-causing bacteria. Tretinoin, a retinoid derivative of vitamin A, normalizes cell turnover and prevents the formation of new comedones (blackheads and whiteheads). Together they address multiple acne-causing factors.

May cause significant skin irritation, dryness, and peeling especially during the initial weeks of treatment. Sun sensitivity is increased, so sunscreen use is recommended. Usually applied once daily in the evening. May bleach hair or fabrics. Contact with eyes, mouth, and mucous membranes should be avoided.
