Treatment of botulism caused by type B botulinum neurotoxin, including foodborne and wound botulism. Used in patients with confirmed or suspected exposure to type B botulinum toxin when rapid neutralization of circulating toxin is needed.

Contains F(ab')2 antibody fragments derived from horses immunized with botulinum toxoid. These fragments bind to and neutralize circulating type B botulinum neurotoxin, preventing the toxin from binding to presynaptic nerve terminals and causing paralysis.

Administered intravenously in healthcare settings by trained professionals. Risk of hypersensitivity reactions including anaphylaxis, particularly in patients with known horse serum allergy. Serum sickness may occur. Efficacy is greatest when administered early before toxin binds to nerves. Test dose may be required.
