Breyna is indicated for the maintenance treatment of asthma in patients 6 years of age and older, and for the maintenance treatment of airflow obstruction in patients with COPD, including chronic bronchitis and emphysema.
Breyna combines two active ingredients: budesonide, an inhaled corticosteroid that reduces inflammation and swelling in the airways, and formoterol, a long-acting beta2-agonist that relaxes smooth muscles in the airways to improve breathing.
Breyna is not a rescue inhaler and should not be used for acute bronchospasm or sudden breathing problems. Patients should rinse their mouth after use to prevent oral thrush and use exactly as prescribed. Regular monitoring by a healthcare provider is important while on this medication.
