Treatment of productive (wet) coughs associated with acute and chronic respiratory conditions such as bronchitis, bronchiolitis, and other inflammatory airway disorders where both cough suppression and mucus clearance are desired.
Bromhexine acts as a mucolytic by breaking down the structure of mucus polymers, reducing viscosity and facilitating expectoration. Butetamate provides antitussive effects by acting on the medullary cough center, decreasing the frequency and intensity of coughing.
Should not be used in patients with gastric ulcers, during first trimester of pregnancy, or in combination with other cough-suppressing medications. May cause mild gastrointestinal discomfort or allergic reactions. Patients should stay adequately hydrated while taking this medication. Always consult a healthcare provider before use, especially in children, elderly patients, or those with pre-existing respiratory conditions.
