Buserelin
Buserelin is a synthetic gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) agonist used primarily in the treatment of hormone-sensitive cancers and certain gynecological conditions. By initially stimulating and then suppressing the pituitary gland, it reduces the production of sex hormones that fuel certain tumors and conditions.
Buserelin is a GnRH agonist used to treat hormone-sensitive prostate cancer, endometriosis, and breast cancer by reducing sex hormone levels.

Buserelin is used to treat advanced prostate cancer, endometriosis, and hormone receptor-positive breast cancer in premenopausal women. It is also sometimes used in assisted reproduction protocols and for the treatment of central precocious puberty.
As a GnRH agonist, buserelin initially stimulates the pituitary gland to release luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH). With continuous administration, the pituitary becomes desensitized, leading to decreased production of sex hormones (testosterone and estrogen), which slows the growth of hormone-dependent tissues and tumors.
Common side effects include hot flashes, decreased libido, injection site reactions, and initial disease flare in cancer patients. It is contraindicated in pregnancy and should be used with caution in patients with cardiovascular disease. Treatment should only be initiated and monitored by specialists experienced in oncology or reproductive medicine.
