Buthiazide / Metipranolol
Buthiazide/Metipranolol is a combination medication that pairs a thiazide-like diuretic with a beta-blocker to help lower blood pressure. This combination works through two different mechanisms to reduce fluid volume and decrease heart workload. It is primarily prescribed for the management of hypertension (high blood pressure) when single-agent therapy is insufficient.
A dual-action antihypertensive combining a diuretic and beta-blocker for effective blood pressure control.

Treatment of essential hypertension (high blood pressure) in patients who require combination therapy for adequate blood pressure control.
Buthiazide (thiazide-like diuretic) promotes excretion of water and sodium through the kidneys, reducing fluid volume and cardiac output. Metipranolol (beta-blocker) reduces heart rate and cardiac output by blocking beta-adrenergic receptors. Together, they provide complementary blood pressure lowering effects.
May cause electrolyte imbalances (especially low potassium), dizziness, or fatigue. Beta-blocker component may mask hypoglycemia symptoms in diabetic patients. Not recommended during pregnancy. Should be withdrawn gradually to avoid rebound hypertension. Regular monitoring of blood pressure, electrolytes, and renal function is advised during treatment.
