Treatment of chronic, exuding wounds including venous leg ulcers, pressure ulcers, and diabetic foot ulcers. May also be used for other wounds where antimicrobial protection and exudate management are needed.
Cadexomer Iodine works through a dual mechanism: the cadexomer matrix absorbs wound exudate while simultaneously releasing iodine in a controlled manner. The iodine provides broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity against bacteria and fungi commonly found in wound infections.
Contraindicated in patients with iodine allergy, thyroid disorders, or Hashimoto's thyroiditis. Not recommended during pregnancy, breastfeeding, or in newborns/infants due to iodine absorption concerns. Should not be used on dry wounds, wounds with poor blood supply, or large burns. Treatment duration typically limited to 2-3 months. Regular monitoring of thyroid function may be needed with prolonged use.
