Acute treatment of migraine and cluster headaches. Not intended for preventive use or for managing other types of pain.

Ergotamine acts as a vasoconstrictor of cranial blood vessels, reducing the pulsation thought to contribute to migraine pain. Caffeine increases ergotamine absorption and may enhance its vasoconstrictive effects.

Should be taken at first sign of headache for best effectiveness. Contraindicated in patients with cardiovascular disease, uncontrolled hypertension, or during pregnancy. Risk of medication overuse headache with frequent use. May interact with other vasoconstrictors, triptans, or certain antibiotics. Ergot derivatives can cause serious vasospastic reactions if misused.
