Treatment and prevention of calcium deficiency (hypocalcemia), support for bone health in osteoporosis and osteopenia, supplementation during pregnancy and breastfeeding when calcium requirements increase, and support for individuals with dietary calcium insufficiency.
Provides elemental calcium that is absorbed in the intestines and distributed throughout the body. Calcium is essential for bone and tooth formation, muscle contraction, nerve signal transmission, and blood clotting. As an organic salt, calcium lactate is generally well-absorbed and gentle on the stomach.
Should be taken with food to enhance absorption. Separate administration by 2-4 hours from certain medications including tetracyclines, fluoroquinolones, and bisphosphonates as calcium can reduce their absorption. Excessive intake may cause hypercalcemia, constipation, or kidney stones. Individuals with hypercalcemia, kidney disease, or certain heart conditions should use under medical supervision.
