Treatment and prevention of calcium and phosphorus deficiencies, osteoporosis, osteomalacia, rickets, hypoparathyroidism, and as a phosphate supplement in renal osteodystrophy. Also used as a dietary supplement when calcium intake is inadequate.
Calcium phosphate provides elemental calcium and phosphorus that are essential for bone mineralization, nerve impulse transmission, muscle contraction, and cellular signaling. The body absorbs these minerals to support skeletal integrity and various physiological processes.
Should be taken with food to enhance absorption. Separate dosing from certain antibiotics (tetracyclines, fluoroquinolones) and thyroid medications by at least 2-4 hours. Monitor for hypercalcemia or hyperphosphatemia with prolonged use. Use cautiously in patients with kidney stones, renal impairment, or sarcoidosis.
