Carvedilol Phosphate
Carvedilol Phosphate is an extended-release beta-blocker used to treat hypertension, heart failure, and left ventricular dysfunction following a heart attack. It works by blocking both beta-adrenergic and alpha-1 adrenergic receptors, helping to reduce blood pressure and improve heart function. This once-daily formulation provides consistent medication levels throughout the day.

Management of hypertension; treatment of stable heart failure to reduce mortality and hospitalization; improvement of survival in patients with left ventricular dysfunction following a heart attack. May also be used off-label for other cardiovascular conditions as determined by a healthcare provider.
Combines non-selective beta-blockade with alpha-1 adrenergic blockade. By blocking beta receptors, it reduces heart rate and myocardial oxygen demand. Alpha-1 blockade causes vasodilation, reducing peripheral vascular resistance. The extended-release phosphate formulation allows for once-daily dosing with controlled drug delivery.
Should not be discontinued abruptly as this may worsen angina or precipitate cardiac events. Requires dose titration in heart failure patients. Contraindicated in decompensated heart failure, severe bradycardia, or cardiogenic shock. Patients with asthma, COPD, or certain heart conduction disorders may need alternative therapy. Regular monitoring of blood pressure, heart rate, and kidney function is recommended during treatment.
