Treatment of susceptible bacterial infections including urinary tract infections, respiratory tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, bone and joint infections, and septicemia when parenteral therapy is required

As a cephalosporin antibiotic, it inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins, leading to cell death. It demonstrates activity against gram-positive organisms and selected gram-negative bacteria.

Should only be used when infection is confirmed or strongly suspected to be caused by susceptible organisms. Complete the full prescribed course. Monitor for allergic reactions, particularly in patients with cephalosporin or penicillin sensitivity. May cause local injection site reactions. Use with caution in patients with renal impairment. Cross-reactivity with penicillins is possible.
