Chlorothiazide Sodium
Chlorothiazide Sodium is a thiazide diuretic (water pill) that helps the body remove excess salt and water by increasing urine output. It is primarily used to treat high blood pressure and fluid retention (edema) associated with heart failure, liver disease, or kidney disorders. By reducing fluid volume, it decreases the workload on the heart and helps lower blood pressure.

Treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure) and edema associated with heart failure, nephrotic syndrome, or cirrhosis. May be used alone or in combination with other antihypertensive agents.
Inhibits sodium reabsorption in the distal convoluted tubules of the kidney, promoting excretion of sodium, water, potassium, and bicarbonate. This reduces plasma volume and systemic vascular resistance, leading to decreased blood pressure.
May cause electrolyte imbalances (particularly hypokalemia), hyperuricemia, and hyperglycemia. Regular monitoring of electrolytes, renal function, and blood pressure is recommended. Patients should report muscle cramps, weakness, or irregular heartbeat. May interact with lithium, digoxin, and other antihypertensive medications.
