Used in women to induce final oocyte maturation and ovulation during controlled ovarian stimulation for assisted reproductive technologies. In men, it treats hypogonadotropic hypogonadism to stimulate spermatogenesis and testosterone production.

Acts as an analog of natural hCG by binding to luteinizing hormone (LH) receptors in the ovaries and testes. In women, it triggers the final maturation and release of oocytes. In men, it stimulates Leydig cells to produce testosterone and supports sperm production.

Administered by subcutaneous injection. Should only be prescribed by specialists in reproductive medicine. Carries risks of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS) in women and multiple pregnancies. Not indicated for use during pregnancy. Requires appropriate patient selection and monitoring throughout treatment.
