Used to reduce inflammation and swelling following ocular trauma or surgery, and to facilitate the removal of cataracts and other ocular tissues during surgery. May also be used for treatment of hematomas and edematous inflammatory conditions.

As a proteolytic enzyme, chymotrypsin hydrolyzes peptide bonds in proteins, breaking down tissue and allowing for easier surgical manipulation. It reduces inflammation by breaking down inflammatory proteins and promoting their reabsorption.

For topical ophthalmic use only when indicated for eye conditions. Should be used with caution in patients with allergies to pancreatic enzymes. Not for systemic administration. Must be stored properly to maintain enzymatic activity. Surgical use should be performed by qualified ophthalmic surgeons.
