Ciprodex is used to treat acute otitis externa (swimmer's ear) caused by susceptible bacteria and acute otitis media with tympanostomy tubes (ear infections in patients with ear tubes).

Ciprofloxacin kills bacteria by inhibiting their DNA replication enzymes, while dexamethasone reduces swelling, redness, and inflammation in the infected ear.

Ciprodex is for topical ear use only and should not be used in the eyes. Patients with known hypersensitivity to fluoroquinolones or corticosteroids should avoid this medication. Complete the full course as prescribed, even if symptoms improve sooner.
