Treatment and prevention of copper deficiency states, including malnutrition, prolonged parenteral nutrition, and certain malabsorption syndromes. May also be used in genetic conditions affecting copper metabolism such as Menkes disease.

Provides bioavailable copper (II) ions that serve as cofactors for essential enzymes including cytochrome c oxidase (energy production), superoxide dismutase (antioxidant defense), and tyrosinase (melanin synthesis). Copper also plays a critical role in iron metabolism and hemoglobin formation.

Should be used under medical supervision due to narrow therapeutic range. Copper toxicity can occur with excessive supplementation. Contraindicated in patients with Wilson's disease or other conditions causing copper accumulation. May interact with certain medications including zinc supplements and antacids. Monitor copper levels during therapy.
