Dalbavancin is a lipoglycopeptide that inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to D-alanyl-D-alanine termini of peptidoglycan precursors, preventing cross-linking and leading to bacterial cell death.
Administered intravenously, typically as a two-dose regimen one week apart. Common side effects include nausea, headache, and rash. Requires appropriate patient selection and monitoring. May cause infusion-related reactions. Used under healthcare provider supervision due to its potent antibacterial activity.
