Treatment of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women and men at high fracture risk, management of bone metastases from solid tumors, treatment of giant cell tumor of bone, and hypercalcemia of malignancy.

Acts as a RANKL inhibitor by binding to RANK ligand, preventing interaction with its receptor RANK on osteoclasts and osteoclast precursors, thereby reducing bone resorption and increasing bone density.

Administered as a subcutaneous injection. Requires adequate vitamin D and calcium supplementation. Associated risks include hypocalcemia (especially in patients with renal impairment), osteonecrosis of the jaw, and atypical femoral fractures. Not recommended for patients with hypocalcemia. Should not be used during pregnancy.
