Dianeal Pd-2/2.5
Dianeal PD-2 and PD-2.5 are sterile peritoneal dialysis solutions containing different concentrations of dextrose (2% and 2.5%) used to remove waste products and excess fluid from the blood of patients with kidney failure. These solutions are instilled into the peritoneal cavity where the body's natural peritoneal membrane acts as a filter, allowing toxins and fluid to pass from the blood into the dialysate. The higher dextrose concentration (2.5%) provides greater ultrafiltration capacity for patients who need more fluid removal.
Dianeal PD-2/2.5 is a peritoneal dialysis solution used to perform kidney dialysis by filtering waste and excess fluid from the blood through the abdominal lining.

Treatment of end-stage renal disease (ESRD) and acute kidney injury when hemodialysis is not feasible or as a long-term renal replacement therapy alternative. May be used for fluid overload states requiring dialysis.
The solution is infused into the peritoneal cavity through a permanently placed catheter. The osmotic gradient created by dextrose in the solution draws water, electrolytes, and uremic toxins from the blood across the peritoneal membrane into the dialysate. After a dwell period, the fluid is drained and replaced with fresh solution, repeating the process multiple times daily (continuous ambulatory PD) or overnight (automated PD).
Must be prescribed and managed by a nephrology care team. Requires surgical placement of a peritoneal dialysis catheter. Risk of peritonitis with improper technique. Solution should be at body temperature before use. Not for intravenous administration. Patient training on aseptic technique is essential. Dextrose concentrations are selected based on individual ultrafiltration needs and residual kidney function.
