Difluprednate is used to treat various inflammatory and pruritic dermatological conditions including atopic dermatitis, contact dermatitis, eczema, and other corticosteroid-responsive skin disorders.
As a corticosteroid, difluprednate inhibits the inflammatory response by suppressing edema, fibrin deposition, capillary dilation, leukocyte migration, and fibroblast proliferation. It also reduces collagen deposition and scarring, effectively calming inflamed skin.
This is a topical medication that should be applied as directed by a healthcare provider. Long-term use on large areas may increase systemic absorption and risk of side effects. Avoid use on broken skin, infected areas, or near eyes unless specifically prescribed. Not recommended for prolonged use in children without medical supervision.
