Divigel is primarily used to treat moderate to severe vasomotor symptoms of menopause, including hot flashes and night sweats. It may also be used to prevent postmenopausal osteoporosis in women who cannot take other osteoporosis medications.

Divigel contains estradiol, a form of estrogen. When applied topically, the gel delivers estradiol through the skin into the bloodstream, supplementing the body's declining estrogen production during menopause and alleviating associated symptoms.

Divigel should not be used by women who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have certain cancers, liver disease, or undiagnosed vaginal bleeding. Estrogen therapy carries risks including increased risk of stroke, blood clots, and certain cancers. It should be used at the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration consistent with treatment goals. The medication is for external use only and should be applied to clean, dry skin on the upper thigh.
